Whiting Station has a Residents Club which provides and sponsors events and activities for our residents. These events throughout the year bring friends and neighbors together in our Ballroom to enjoy food, parties, games, dancing, plus other entertainment. The Officers of the Residents Club (titled Executive Committee; elected for a two-year term) report on upcoming events at monthly meetings.
Some events are ‘Free to All Residents’ which are made possible because of funds raised at the Fall Craft Fair (held yearly on the first Saturday in November) as well as funds raised from 50/50 raffles. The free Bagel Bash and the free Ice Cream Social are examples of the free events. Events like the annual Holiday Party or the Mid-Winter Soup Luncheon have a charge to cover the cost of food and/or expenses.
Currently, Residents Club sponsored events include an annual ‘Trash or Treasure’ Homeowner Sale Day, Game Night, and Trivia Night. We hope to vary events year by year, as we seek to incorporate new ideas with feedback suggestions from our residents.
Activities to note include BINGO (monthly; 1st Friday evening and 3rd Thursday afternoon), CRAFT CLUB (monthly, 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings), SENIOR FITNESS (weekly, Monday mornings), and WATER AEROBICS (weekly during pool season, Thursday mornings). A collection area for residents to contribute non-perishable foods, household, and personal items for the local Food Bank is maintained in the Clubhouse Activity Room. Enjoy our well-maintained library with new and large printed books added monthly. A large collection of DVDs is the right in the Clubhouse Exercise Room.
Additionally, many residents enjoy playing cards in the comfortable Clubhouse Activity Room or working out in the well-equipped Clubhouse Exercise Room. A Multi-Game-Court provides residents with a chance to participate in BOCCE (teams), SHUFFLEBOARD, PICKLEBALL (lessons available), and the PUTTING GREEN. We encourage all residents to participate in the activities and events either by attending and/or by volunteering to help, decorate, bake, or contribute in any way that they can. We find that those who do attend and volunteer in this way truly enjoy living in Whiting Station, making new friends and acquaintances, and keeping our lives active and satisfying!
